The UA Name
Our official name is The University of Arizona. Our logo reflects this. When using the University’s formal name in a headline, please capitalize The University of Arizona. When referring to the University in body copy, it is appropriate to use “the” in lowercase type.
Example: I received a valuable education at the University of Arizona.
When possible, please use the formal name of the University of Arizona on first reference. On second reference it is appropriate to abbreviate to “UA,” “the UA” or “the University.”
Even though we refer to the University as “the U of A” when speaking conversationally, the acceptable usage in print is “UA.”
